Tags

Tags provide a flexible way to categorize and organize entities across Aqarjia. Unlike fixed lookup tables, tags are free-form labels that you can create and assign as needed.

What Are Tags?

Tags are custom labels that can be attached to properties, units, tenants, leases, and other entities. They help you organize and filter your data beyond the built-in categories.

Examples of useful tags:

  • Portfolio grouping -- "Portfolio A", "Investment Properties", "Family Trust"
  • Geographic -- "Salmiya", "Hawalli", "Kuwait City"
  • Management -- "Needs Renovation", "Premium", "Short-Term Rental"
  • Financial -- "High Yield", "Below Market Rate", "Government Contract"

Creating Tags

  1. Navigate to Settings > Tags.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter the tag name.
  4. Click Save.

Tags are shared across your organization -- once created, any team member can assign them to entities.

Assigning Tags

To tag an entity:

  1. Open the entity detail page (property, unit, tenant, etc.).
  2. Look for the Tags section.
  3. Click to add tags and select from existing tags or create new ones inline.
  4. Tags are saved immediately.

Using Tags for Filtering

Tags appear as filter options in list views. This allows you to:

  • View all properties with a specific tag.
  • Find all tenants tagged with a particular category.
  • Generate reports filtered by tag.

Tag Management

  • Rename -- Update a tag name. The change reflects everywhere the tag is used.
  • Delete -- Remove a tag. This unassigns it from all entities.
  • Merge -- Combine duplicate tags by renaming one and deleting the other.

Tags are most effective when used consistently. Establish naming conventions with your team to avoid duplicates and variations (e.g., decide between "Salmiya" vs "Al Salmiya").

Best Practices

  • Use tags for cross-cutting concerns that do not fit into fixed categories.
  • Keep the total number of tags manageable -- too many tags reduce their usefulness.
  • Review and clean up tags periodically to remove unused or duplicate entries.
  • Combine tags with built-in filters for powerful data segmentation.
